Lindsay Roden - Owner, Director
In 2013 Lindsay opened the doors to Lindsay Roden Dance Academy (LRDA) with the goal of owning and operating a studio where children walk through the doors and immediately feel at home. Lindsay is a highly trained dancer, performer and choreographer. She holds an Honours Degree from York University, majoring in dance.
Prior to opening LRDA she taught and choreographed for many studio’s and their competitive teams. With Lindsay’s versatile dance background and her infectious energy, that pours into each class that she instructs. Her students learn in an environment that is rich with technique, in a creative and inspiring atmosphere.
As the studio has grown Lindsay has selected faculty that are passionate, professional and committed to helping students learn in an engaging, creative, family friendly environment.
Piper Hook
Piper Hook is a multidisciplinary trained dancer and choreographer. She began her dance training at All That Dance and then the Dance Zone. She has trained competitively for 10 years. Her training consists of acro, tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theatre.
Piper has always had a passion for teaching. She started as a gymnastics coach at Trix Acro Gym and instructing at The Dance Zone.
Piper is currently in her third year at York University studying Kinesiology and Health Sciences in Athletic Therapy concurrently.
Piper loves teaching dance and sharing her knowledge and creativity with her students. She is excited to join the LRDA team and can’t wait to see her students perform!
Madie Brown
Madie is a freelance dance artist, teacher and choreographer in Toronto who trained as a competitive dancer and graduated from Thomas A Stewart Integrated Arts Program. She also trained with Dark Dance Company before moving on to post secondary education graduating with honours from the Centennial College Dance Performance Diploma Program earning the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence. Madie is now a member of Lianne Tammi's Mission Vision Purpose Professional Company.
Madie has extensive training in styles such as contemporary, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, ballet, jazz funk and musical theatre. She has also trained in cultural styles, tap and pas de deux. Madie has developed strong improvisational skills and has brought her creativity through choreography for various competitions and shows including Strive Dance Competition earning first place awards, as well as top overall senior large group for hip hop choreography at Bedazzled Dance Champions.
Lucy Birrell
Lucy has been a part of LRDA since it first opened in 2013. She has trained extensively in acro, jazz, contemporary and lyrical. She danced competitively dance from 2015 up until 2019. Lucy is a recent graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University, since graduating Lucy has returned to LRDA and has been teaching and assisting many of our classes!
Lucy has a passion for working with kids, and shares her love of dance and creativity with each and every student.
Lucy is thrilled to back at LRDA this season!
Katrina Matera
Katrina is a recent graduate of George Brown College Commercial Dance Program. She has had the pleasure of working alongside many incredible choreographers. A memorable moment of Katrina’s was performing in the 2015 Pan AM Games opening ceremony with Cirque De Soleil. Katrina was recently featured as a backup dancer in Canada’s Drag Race winner Priyanka’s “No New Friends” music video. Her specialty styles include hip hop, acrobatics, tap, and heels. Katrina has been teaching and choreographing for competitive students since 2020 and is eager to continue growing as an artist and mentor.
She looks forward to seeing all her students shine on stage!
Alyssa Levac
Alyssa is a multidisciplinary dance teacher, artist, dancer, and choreographer based in Toronto. She has trained in multiple dance techniques with a focus on contemporary, modern, jazz, and fusion dance forms.
Alyssa is presently in her fourth year at York University in the Dance BFA program in the choreography and performance stream.
Alyssa is excited to be part of the LRDA faculty and share her love of the arts with her students.
Hannah Cohen
Hannah’s dance journey began at age three at The Dance Zone, where she trained competitively for ten years. She is currently furthering her training at Toronto Metropolitan University, pursuing a minor in dance.
In addition to teaching at various studios across Toronto, she has had the privilege of choreographing for TMU Dance Pak and Unapologetic Dance Company. Her passion for dance spans multiple styles, including tap, jazz, ballet, modern, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical. Hannah loves teaching dance and thrives on sharing her love for this beautiful art form with her students, helping them grow and excel in their craft.
Meghan Hashimoto
Meghan Hashimoto is a Toronto based dancer and choreographer who began her dance journey at the age of 3 at Jaymor School of Dance.
Her training encompassed Acro, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, and Ballet. Providing a strong foundation for her future accomplishments.
In 2021, Meghan furthered her passion by enrolling in York University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program. During her third year, she joined the York Lions Dance Energy team.
In 2023/2024 season Meghan has performed at Canada’s Wonderland, captivating audiences with her roles in the Halloween Haunts Vampire Disco and WinterFest Polar Party.
Her dedication, creativity and versatility continue to shape her evolving career in the dance world. Meghan is excited to join the LRDA faculty.
Logan Denning
Logan is a talented artist making a name for herself amongst the dance community. As a graduate of Centennial College Dance Performance Program, she uses her versatility to explore and extend the boundaries of the artistry.
She is a member of multiple Toronto based dance companies such as The MOVMNT Collective directed by Leah Totten and Kode Red directed by Jac Valiquette. Both provide professional level training and ample performance opportunities.
Logan has extensive training in hip hop, tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern, and lyrical. She has been enjoying teaching dance and loved getting to form connections with students to help them grow and accomplish their own goals! Logan is excited to join LRDA this year and can't wait to see all her students hit the stage!
